Robotics

Many robots from popular manufacturers now support the open source Robot Operating System (ROS).   As companies migrate toward implementing RaaS (Robots as a Service) via rented robots (including universal robots - UR), opportunities for freelance engineers skilled in the use of ROS will expand.   Training and development on ROS can be conducted on relatively inexpensive robots, such as the $840 uArm Swift Pro shown below.   Robotic simulators such as Gazebo and Webots allow development of the ROS algorithms in a simulated environment without the need for hardware.   ROS Development Studio (ROSDS) is an online platform that provides access to ROS1 & ROS2 computers and other powerful ROS tools within a browser.
